Project Overview

JourneyGuard is a mobile app concept that lets road travelers share their live location, ETA and journey status with chosen trusted contacts. It adds SOS alerts and basic AI anomaly detection. It’s a self-initiated product idea, developed while training in project management. I took it from discovery to a full product and delivery plan for a 20-week MVP on Android and iOS.

Problem

Families of road travelers have little reliable visibility into a journey. Silent stretches and delays cause anxiety, and travelers can’t keep taking calls while driving. Generic location-sharing apps show a dot on a map, with no ETA, journey status, anomaly alerts, or SOS.

Solution

A journey companion built for the road, with one experience for the traveler and one for the trusted contact. It has consent-based live sharing, ETA, last-known location, one-tap SOS, and AI alerts for unusual stops or route deviation.

Approach

I framed the objectives, defined users and scope, and prioritized with MoSCoW and RICE. Then I built the backlog and planned delivery in two-week Agile sprints inside a fixed scope, budget and milestone frame.

My Conttribution

Owned the product definition, discovery and the delivery plan. That covered the vision, personas and PRD, MoSCoW and RICE prioritization, a backlog of 9 epics and 179 tasks, and a 20-week plan with risk register and quality plan.

Challenges

Timeline realism: I stress-tested a 14-week plan and found that two platforms and a small team made it too risky. I re-planned it to 20 weeks, building Android and iOS together.

Prioritizing what the first release must have.

No dedicated QA: I planned shared checklists, a QA sprint, and a part-time tester for a team with no dedicated QA.
